Here it is, Biggies, The Ultimate Big Things Map. With more than 600 oversized roadside attractions spanning from Broome to Bendigo, this is your essential guide through the Land of the Bigs.
Brought to you by the inimitable Bigs Bardot, it features everything from world famous landmarks like Ploddy the Dinosaur and The Big Pineapple, to oddities such as The Big Bread Clip and Chickaletta. Best of all, the map only has Big Things, so there are no road signs or murals or boring stuff to get in the way.
Suffice it to say, no Aussie roadtrip is complete without The Ultimate Big Things Map!
Pink pins lead to full entries. Please click through to learn the history of these Bigs, and have a giggle at some really quite sophisticated jokes.
Blue pins are an elegy to my failures, as they represent Bigs that do not yet have a full entry on Land of the Bigs. They will, however, direct you to some of the quirkiest Big Things in Australia. Please, if you do visit one, send me a photo and I’ll pop it up on the map.
Black pins – and I really must preface this with a trigger warning – sing a mournful tune for those Bigs who are no longer with us. Land of the Bigs serves as the world’s foremost chronicle of our incredible oversized roadside attractions, and is dedicated to preserving the history of these remarkable cultural monuments.
If there’s no pin, don’t bother going there – you won’t find any Bigs.
Trust me, you won’t find a bigger map anywhere… well, except for Map the Miner – teehee!
